The Wonder Stuff + Inspiral Carpets

The Wonder Stuff are playing The Great Hall, Cardiff University Students' Union on Thursday 15 October, as part of a UK tour marking their 40th anniversary. They're not coming alone: Inspiral Carpets are joining them on the road, with special guests added to the bill too. The night is presented by Crosstown Concerts by arrangement with Motion Talent.

For anyone who knows the two bands, the pairing makes a kind of sense. Both emerged from the UK indie scene of the late eighties, and they've shared a long history as old friends rather than rivals. The Wonder Stuff have spent the last few decades evolving from their early folk-inflected indie sound into something more expansive, and this tour is their way of marking four decades since they first started out. Having Inspiral Carpets along for the ride adds another layer to the evening, so you'll get two full sets from bands that have been around since the same era.

The Great Hall is on Senghennydd Road, CF24 4AZ, and the night runs from 19:00 to 23:00, with doors open throughout. It's strictly 14+, and under-16s need to be accompanied by an adult. The venue also warns that flashing and strobe lighting will be used during the show, so keep that in mind if you're sensitive to them. Between the main act, the support, and the special guests, there's plenty on the bill for one night.
