A gripping thriller set in a 1930s work camp, directed by Padraic McKinley and starring Ethan Hawke, presented as an audio-described film.
The Weight is screening at Chapter this week, starting Tuesday 13 October. It's a thriller from director Padraic McKinley, with Ethan Hawke in the lead, and it's playing across three days: Tuesday (11:55 and 17:00), Wednesday (14:15 and 16:40), and Thursday (12:55 and 17:00).
The film is set in Oregon during the Great Depression of 1933. It follows Samuel Murphy, who's sent to a brutal work camp and separated from his young daughter. Once there, he manages to earn the trust of Warden Clancy, but that trust leads him to a choice: trade gold for an early release. It's a gripping, heart-stopping thriller, and the film describes Hawke's performance as magnetic.
