The Rock Orchestra brings its rock and metal spectacle Arena of Fire to Utilita Arena Cardiff, fusing classical music with heavy metal anthems.
The Rock Orchestra play Utilita Arena Cardiff on Thursday 22 October, bringing their show Arena of Fire to the city. It's a rotating collective of classical instrumentalists, vocalists and live performance artists, and this is their first Cardiff date since touring the US and Europe back-to-back.
The show is built on a mix of classical music and heavy metal, and it's not just about the sound. They've brought in pyro displays, fire performers and circus acts to run alongside the music, so there's a fair bit going on around the stage. Fourteen classical musicians rework anthems from a long list of bands: Metallica, AC/DC, The Rolling Stones, Pantera, My Chemical Romance, Linkin Park, System Of A Down, Guns N' Roses, Evanescence, Papa Roach and The Cranberries. The whole thing runs for around 90 minutes.
If you want to make a proper night of it, there's a 'The Suite Experience' upgrade available. That gets you a two-course meal in the L2 Restaurant, a drink on arrival and the show watched from a Level 1 balcony, with access to a shared private suite and bar. Otherwise, it's just the show itself.
