A witty new adaptation of Jane Austen's classic tale of romance and sisterhood, following the Dashwood sisters, as part of the BFI London Film Festival 2026.
Sense and Sensibility is showing at Chapter from Tuesday 13 to Thursday 15 October, a new adaptation of Jane Austen's tale of romance and sisterhood directed by Georgia Oakley. It's a charming, witty take on the classic, following the Dashwood sisters as they navigate love and family in the English countryside. If you've read the book or seen other versions, you'll recognise the core of it — the tension between the head and the heart — but this is Oakley's own version, not a beat-for-beat reproduction.
It's also part of the BFI London Film Festival 2026, so it's coming to Cardiff as part of a wider run of screenings. That means you've got a few days to catch it rather than just one night, which is handy if you're fitting it around work or a busy week. The screenings run from Tuesday 13 to Thursday 15 October, so you can pick the evening that suits you best.

As for where to find it, Chapter is on Market Road in Canton, CF5 1QE. It's an arts centre that does a bit of everything: there's an all-day café bar, two cinemas, cultural exhibitions and artists' studios all under one roof. If you're coming from outside the area, it's a good spot to hang around before or after the film — you can grab a drink or a bite at the café bar and make an evening of it rather than just popping in for the screening. The film runs from Tuesday 13 to Thursday 15 October at Chapter, Market Road, Canton, Cardiff CF5 1QE.
