Stand-up comedy show by Rachel Fairburn, co-host of the podcast All Killa No Filla, featuring new material and social commentary.
Rachel Fairburn brings her new show, Vexy Beasts, to the Wales Millennium Centre on Thursday 22 October. It's her first time back on stage since Side Eye, the 2025 show that earned her a fair bit of critical praise, and this one follows a similar thread: new personalities alongside some of the old favourites. The set is built around a gallery of characters — nepo babies, middle-class rock stars, and terrifying mothers — tied together with biting social commentary and plenty of big laughs. Critics have described her presence as "commanding, thrilling and utterly addictive", and the show itself as "gag-heavy, opinionated and smart".
Fairburn is well known outside the live circuit, too. She co-hosts the international podcast hit All Killa No Filla and has appeared on Live at the Apollo (BBC Two), Alan Davies: As Yet Untitled (Dave), Richard Osman's House of Games (BBC Two), and Russell Howard Hour Life Lesson (Sky). If you've caught her on those, you'll recognise the character-driven style she's bringing to the stage here.
The show is held in the Cabaret, the WMC's smaller, more intimate space. The venue bills it as bringing "a taste of Soho to Cardiff Bay" — an inclusive hub for emerging and eclectic talent, with drag extravaganzas, comedy, burlesque, live bands and avant-garde gig theatre. It's a good fit for a character-led comedy set like this, where the smaller room keeps things close.
