Nick Heyward performs his The 12 Dates Of Christmas show, an intimate acoustic set blending his catalogue with a festive feel, joined by guitarist Adam Phillips.
Nick Heyward is playing The Gate in Cardiff on Saturday 21 November, part of his The 12 Dates of Christmas run. It's a stripped-back, acoustic show, and he's not alone on stage: he's joined by guitarist Adam Phillips, who's worked with Tom Robinson, Hamish Stewart and Richard Ashcroft. The set pulls from Heyward's catalogue, with the songs reworked for this smaller, acoustic setting.
Heyward is best known as the frontman of Haircut One Hundred, and this tour follows a couple of different runs: an intimate acoustic tour in Scotland and a sell-out band tour in 2024. He's described The 12 Dates of Christmas as a series of intimate performances in historic churches and cathedrals, blending his songs with a festive, stripped-back feel. He's said he wanted to take the songs back to their essence in atmospheric, reflective spaces, which gives you a sense of what to expect from the night.
There's new material in the mix too. Haircut One Hundred's new album, Boxing The Compass, came out on 19 June 2026, and Heyward is also working on new solo material, so the set will draw from both his band work and his solo career. Between the new record and the older songs, it's a look at where he's been and what he's doing now, played as a duo rather than a full band.
