MWSOG bring an evening of melodic ritual and folk rock to The Gate in Cardiff, blending arcane acid folk and ritual rock & roll.
MWSOG are back in Cardiff on Friday 20 November, playing The Gate in Roath. It's their first date here after a year spent playing beyond their hometown, and they're returning with a night they describe as melodic ritual and resonance.
For one sunset only, the venue is framed as a temple to the turning tides and the coming winter. Beneath its towering spire and steeple, the evening weaves seasonal rites and folk customs, ancient and newly forged, all underscored by MWSOG's blend of arcane acid folk and ritual rock & roll. The band draws inspiration from ancient woodlands, with wildflowers and moss-covered trees figuring in the spirits that drive their sound.
The Gate itself is a vibrant arts and music venue housed in a beautifully restored Victorian church in the heart of the city, so the church setting fits the ritual theme. The night is open to all ages, though under-18s need to be accompanied by an adult.
