Acoustic performance by indie folk duo Flyte at The Gate in Cardiff.
Flyte play an acoustic set at The Gate on Saturday 5 December, with doors opening at 19:00. It's an evening presented by Crosstown Concerts.
Flyte are an indie folk duo, Will Taylor and Nick Hill, who take their name from Lord Sebastian Flyte, the tragic love interest in Evelyn Waugh's Brideshead Revisited. They write tales of love and loss and debuted their songwriting with The Loved Ones in 2017. For their fourth album, Between You and Me, they returned to something raw and instinctual, writing at a small window table in Taylor's North East London flat before joining producer Ethan Johns — who has worked with Paul McCartney, Laura Marling and Ray LaMontagne — in his rural studio. The duo calls it the most affecting and singular album of their discography.
Following the success of their 2023 self-titled album Flyte, the band has become known for its 'vocal chemistry' (The Needle Drop) and musical 'harmony' (Rolling Stone), and for a tight-knit circle of creatives. Past collaborators include Laura Marling, Billie Marten, Madison Cunningham, Bombay Bicycle Club, The Staves and Florence Pugh. This particular show is an acoustic one, so it'll be a stripped-back version of the sound they've built over the last nine years.
