Indie folk performance by Essy Sparrow, accompanied by Tom Sparrow, at the Chapter Arts Centre in Cardiff.
Essy Sparrow plays the Chapter Arts Centre on Thursday 15 October, with the set running from 7:00pm to 9:30pm in the Common Room on the first floor. She'll be accompanied on stage by Tom Sparrow.
Sparrow is a multi-disciplinary artist and songwriter from Falmouth, Cornwall, who describes her indie folk as gossip-filled and nostalgic, written in her coastal studio. Her debut EP, Still Upset About It Actually, came out in 2024 and was produced by Jemima Coulter. It picked up some real traction on TikTok, with the track 'Artists Dreamers' reaching over two million views. Her debut single, 'Weddings and Funerals', produced by CJ Pandit, was named BBC Introducing's Track of the Week in the South West.
Since then, she's been playing out. In 2025 she played Boardmasters with BBC Introducing, supported Tors and Semler, and joined Lily Lyons opening for The Staves. She also sold out a 200-capacity headline show at St Mary in London. Her second EP, Gossip from a Coastal Town, brings in sounds from a local sea shanty band, a pirate ghost tour guide on accordion, and live ocean recordings from Cornwall.
