An hour of calming classical music presented by Niall Breslin to help release the stresses of the day, with two sessions at 6pm and 9pm.
Niall Breslin brings Classical Wind Down LIVE to BBC Hoddinott Hall on Thursday 4 February 2027, with two separate performances that evening, one at 18:00 and another at 21:00. It's an hour of calming classical music, and the whole thing is presented by Breslin himself, an Irish musician and mindfulness expert. The idea is simple: a space to release the stresses of the day, recharge, and prepare for rest. It's part of the BBC NOW 2026-27 season.
The programme pulls from a wide range of composers, both contemporary and established. You'll hear works by Rosey Chan, Judith Weir, Delius, Dvorak, Rautavaara, Ravel and Howard Skempton. That's a fair bit of ground to cover in an hour, and it runs the gamut from the familiar to the less so, with the evening split into two parts—one early, one late—so you can pick the time that fits your night.

Practicalities: tickets are £15 for over 65s, £12 for disabled, and £7 for under 26s and students. The venue sets aside four wheelchair and companion seats in Row O, and the Hynt scheme provides free tickets for carers and companions. There's age guidance to keep in mind: no under-2s, and all under-16s must be seated with an adult aged 18 or over. With the two timings, you can either wind down after work or cap off the evening.
