beabadoobee performs live on her The Powerlines Tour with special guest Wisp, presenting her album The Powerlines.
beabadoobee plays Utilita Arena Cardiff on Monday 16 November, one of three UK dates on The Powerlines Tour, alongside stops in Glasgow, Manchester and London. She's bringing Wisp as the support act.
The tour follows This Is How Tomorrow Moves, her fourth record and a UK number one. She named it after the electricity towers that dot the world's major arteries, and the title also points to the sound she's moved into: waves of distortion running across the album's 14 songs. It's a spiky, forceful shift from her earlier work, and the live set will be built around it.
There's a bit of a story behind the record too. While touring over the last few years, Beatrice Laus has spoken about the disconnection and isolation that comes with being on the road, and how that reminded her of her connection to friends and family back home. The first single, 'Sun Has Set', started as a set of diary entries she never thought she'd be able to say out loud, and it comes with a first-person video directed by her partner and longtime visual collaborator Jake Erland. That's the kind of personal, direct songwriting that's at the heart of the album, and it's what she'll be playing live.
