A movement and clowning play and performance experience for children aged 0-3 and their families, built on physical play and the joy of making space to play together.
Wonder Baby comes to the Trinity Centre on Friday 23 October, a movement and clowning play for children aged 0-3 and their families. It's put on by Travelling Light Theatre Company, and the whole thing is built around physical play and the joy of making space to play together. The piece runs for about 90 minutes, so it's a proper morning out rather than a quick stop.
What's nice about it is where it comes from. It was developed in collaboration with the babies, toddlers and families who took part in the show's early stages, so it grew out of their imaginations and experiences rather than being something imposed on them. That's a good thing to keep in mind when you're thinking about bringing little ones along — it's a play that actually knows its audience.
On stage are performers Sonia Thakurdesai and Eleanor Pead, with Jess Clough-MacRae directing, Raph Clarkson as musical director and composer, and Lizzy Stephens as artistic director and producer. The show is part of Trinity's Stay & Play programme, a strand of programming for the city's youngest residents and their carers. Travelling Light is touring it across early years settings and community spaces throughout the South West this October, so this is one of its Bristol stops.
