A 4K restoration of Danny Boyle's classic film Trainspotting, with a post-screening party featuring a DJ set by Neil Ramjee.
Trainspotting is back on the big screen at Watershed this weekend, and it's not just a standard re-run. It's a 4K restoration of Danny Boyle's 1996 film, which marks its 30th anniversary. The screenings are part of the BFI FAN Rip It Up season, so it's a bit of a double celebration.
If you've seen it before, you know the territory: Boyle's audaciously innovative and darkly comic take on addiction, scams and survival. The 4K restoration means it's had a proper polish, so it'll be as sharp on screen as it was when it first hit cinemas. It's a good chance to catch it in a cinema if you've only ever watched it on a small screen.
There are three screenings to choose from, so you can pick the one that fits your weekend. The first is Friday 16 October at 20:00, running until 21:43. The second is Saturday 17 October at 20:20, finishing at 22:08. The third is Sunday 18 October at 17:00, which wraps up by 18:48. If you're going on the Friday, there's a bit more to it: the screening is followed by a post-screening celebration in the Café & Bar, with a DJ set by Neil Ramjee of Your Boyfriends are DJs and activities inspired by the Trainspotting soundtrack and British youth culture. It's a good one to go to with a group if you fancy a drink after the credits roll.
