The Others

The Others is showing at Watershed from Monday 19 to Thursday 22 October, as part of Scares at the Shed, a season of ghostly and supernatural thrillers that runs throughout October. Alejandro Amenábar's gothic supernatural thriller is set in 1945 and follows Grace, played by Academy Award winner Nicole Kidman, and her two children waiting in a secluded Jersey mansion for her husband to return from the war. It's a 12A, and this particular run is a 4K restoration marking the film's 25th anniversary.

If you're in the mood for more than one night, The Others is just one part of the wider season. Scares at the Shed pulls together several supernatural titles across the month, and there are a few other restorations in the mix. David Cronenberg's The Fly also gets a 4K restoration, shown with Noods Radio, and Ken Russell's The Devils — which was censored for more than half a century — is back in 4K in the director's original cut. There's also a student mystery screening in partnership with MUBI, so if you fancy a bit of guesswork with your cinema, that's where to look.

Between the restored classics and the mystery screening, the season covers a fair bit of ground. The Others runs from Monday 19 to Thursday 22 October at Watershed in Bristol, and it's rated 12A.
