Shortlist presentation of the Film London Jarman Award featuring four short films, followed by an in-conversation with Sadia Pineda Hameed.
Watershed is hosting the shortlist presentation for the 2026 Film London Jarman Award on Wednesday 4 November, as part of the Spike Island x Watershed programme. It's a screening of the four shortlisted films, all from 2025, and they're shown one after the other in a single session. The award itself is run by Film London in partnership with the Whitechapel Gallery, and it's set up to recognise artists working with moving image, with a particular eye for experimentation, imagination and innovation. The winner takes home a £10,000 prize.
The four films on the bill are Okay Keskidee! Let Me See Inside (20 mins), directed by Rhea Storr; The Dhaba - 1st Chapter: Mr Sharif and 2nd Chapter: Mr Bhari (30 mins), directed by Alia Syed; Moving Sound (8 mins), directed by Sadia Pineda Hameed; and Other Actors (60 mins), directed by Ilona Sagar. That's just under two hours of work in total, with the films running from a short eight-minute piece through to a full hour-long film, so there's a fair bit of ground to cover in one sitting.

Following the screening, there's a Q&A session starting at 18:00, and the night includes an in-conversation with Sadia Pineda Hameed, one of the shortlisted filmmakers. It's a good chance to hear from one of the artists about the work before the winner is announced on Tuesday 24 November. The whole thing sits within the Spike Island x Watershed programme, so it's part of a wider run of events at Watershed this autumn. The screening is on Wednesday 4 November at Watershed, Bristol, with the Q&A starting at 18:00.
