Silent Disco

Tobacco Factory is hosting another Silent Disco on Friday 16 October, from 8:00pm to 11:55pm. It's a free entry night, so you can just turn up and get stuck in without worrying about a ticket in advance.

The whole thing works on the silent disco format: you get a pair of headphones with two channels to switch between, each playing a different genre at the same time. You pick the one you're feeling and dance to that, or flip back and forth if you can't decide. Because the music is in your ears and not coming through a big sound system, you can switch channels whenever you like without missing a beat.

This particular night is part of Tobacco Factory's 'Every 3rd Friday, June to October' series, a regular fixture of their autumn programme. The format stays the same — two channels, two genres running side by side — but the music theme changes every month, so the mood shifts from one Friday to the next. If you've been to a few of them, you'll know that what works one month might be completely different the next.

Entry is free, though the headphones require a fully refundable £5 deposit. You get that back when you hand them in at the end of the night. It runs from 8:00pm until just before midnight, so there's plenty of time to work your way through both channels.
