Live music night featuring high-energy folk band Sheelanagig and punk band Buffo's Wake at The Trinity Centre.
Sheelanagig and Buffo's Wake share a bill at The Trinity Centre on Friday 20 November, with the music running from 8:00 pm to 11:30 pm. It's a standing show, so you'll be on your feet for the night.
Sheelanagig are a high-energy folk band based here in Bristol, and they've been playing live folk for nearly twenty years. Their sound mixes strings, soaring flute and pounding drums, and they build their sets around original dance medleys that range from medieval and baroque through to folk-rock. Mark Radcliffe of BBC Radio 2 once described them as 'a good night out guaranteed'.
Buffo's Wake come from Brighton, a twenty-legged punk band with an extravagant brass section, accordions, clarinets and violins. They draw on Eastern European folk, Balkan brass, Slavic murder ballads and dark cabaret, so they bring a very different energy to the stage than the folk-rock of Sheelanagig.
