Screening of the 2026 film 'Sense and Sensibility' directed by Georgia Oakley, with audio description available at all showings.
Watershed is showing Sense and Sensibility, a new cinematic take on Jane Austen's classic novel, across three screenings this week. It's directed by Georgia Oakley and stars Daisy Edgar-Jones and EsmĂ© Creed-Miles as the Dashwood sisters, with CaitrĂona Balfe, George MacKay and Fiona Shaw in the supporting cast. The film is described as charming, witty and deeply relatable.
Set in Georgian-era England, it follows the two sisters — the cautious, conscientious Elinor and the fiery, headstrong Marianne — who are moved from their grand home to a modest country cottage after their inheritance is lost. From there, each tries to find her place in the world while dealing with the attention of various suitors. It's a familiar story, but this is a fresh take on it rather than a straight adaptation.
