Romare, the acclaimed electronic music project of producer Archie Fairhurst, brings his live show in support of his album Oblivion.
Romare plays Bristol Beacon on Thursday 12 November, bringing his live show to the Lantern Hall. The night is presented by the Beacon, and it's standing room only, for ages 14 and over, with under-18s accompanied by an adult.
Romare is the project of producer Archie Fairhurst, who takes both his name and his method from the collage techniques of the artist Romare Bearden. The approach is a bit like that: he blends found sounds, live instrumentation and global musical influences into immersive electronic music. Over his career he's woven together house, jazz, broken beat, ambient textures and off-centre electronica, reshaping the music live to create groove-driven sets that blur the line between club culture and live performance. The show supports his forthcoming album, Oblivion.
It's a good way to hear how the record translates to a live room. The set will be built around Oblivion, so you'll get the new material as the main focus, with the live elements and the dancefloor energy that define his sets. If you've followed his earlier work, you'll recognise the same mix of house, jazz and broken beat that's been running through his music for years.
