A queer musical with punk music, puppets and multimedia visuals exploring queer identity, by Dr. Pants.
Dr. Pants bring Pup Play to the Alma Tavern Theatre on Tuesday 3 November, the first of a run that goes through to Thursday 5 November. It's a queer musical, and the title gives you a fair hint of the territory it covers.
On the music side, it's punk—so expect something loud and direct rather than a traditional musical theatre sound. That punk energy sits alongside puppets and multimedia visuals, and the whole thing is built around exploring queer identity. It's a queer show through and through, written and performed by Dr. Pants, who's the name behind the whole thing.
Because it's a musical, the songs do a lot of the heavy lifting, and the puppets and visuals run alongside them rather than just acting as backdrop. It's a queer story told with punk music, puppets, and multimedia visuals, and it's all coming from the same place.
