A solo actor brings to life the terrifying gothic literature of Edgar Allan Poe, for two nights only ahead of its sold-out West End debut.
One Man Poe is at the Spielman Theatre on 30 and 31 October, two nights of Edgar Allan Poe's gothic literature brought to the stage by a single actor. The show is built around Poe's original text from the 1840s, with that one performer carrying the whole thing, taking the writer's words and working them into a live performance. It's billed as being delivered by the 'Godfather of Gothic' himself, so the actor steps into Poe's own shoes rather than just reading him aloud.
Those are the only two Bristol dates, and they come just before the show's sold-out West End debut, so it's a chance to catch it here before it heads to London. If you're a fan of the gothic side of things, this is exactly where it sits: Poe's 19th-century prose, the sort of dark, atmospheric stuff he's known for, and one person on stage to bring it all to life. It's a small cast for a big name, and the whole thing rests on that single actor's interpretation of the original text.
