Concert by the bossa nova project Nouvelle Vague, reimagining new wave classics, in their world tour.
Nouvelle Vague play Trinity on Sunday 14 March, a Bristol date on their world tour. The project was founded by musician, composer and producer Marc Collin alongside the late Olivier Libaux, of Les Objets and Uncovered QOTSA, and it's built its reputation on a rotating cast of female vocalists — Camille, Elodie Frege, Melanie Pain, Phoebe Kildea, Juliette Lewis and Vanessa Paradis among them — reimagining New Wave classics in a bossa nova key.
Their first two albums, Nouvelle Vague (2004) and Bande A Part (2006), defined that sound, while NV3 (2009) brought in collaborators like Depeche Mode's Martin Gore, Ian McCulloch of Echo and the Bunnymen, Terry Hall of The Specials and Barry Adamson. Further acclaimed albums followed in 2010, 2016 and 2019, and the band has toured the world throughout its career.
