Subtitled screening of Andrey Zvyagintsev's political drama 'Minotaur', part of the BFI London Film Festival on Tour 2026.
Andrey Zvyagintsev's Minotaur screens at Watershed on Friday 16 October, as part of the BFI London Film Festival on Tour 2026. It's a subtitled screening, and the film is a transposition of Claude Chabrol's La Femme infidèle set in contemporary Russia.
The story is a political allegory that looks at ego, violence and corruption. It opens at the start of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, when a powerful CEO becomes preoccupied with feeding the war machine with workers just as he finds out his wife is having an affair. His scruples fade pretty quickly from there, and the review calls it a darkly humorous tale of impunity.
Minotaur is one of 14 previews that the 70th BFI London Film Festival is bringing to Watershed this year, which is the venue's biggest LFF on Tour yet. Cinema programmer Steph Read describes the tour as "always a real highlight of the cinema calendar each year," bringing previews of the hottest features fresh from the awards circuit and their London premieres, including a handful of her own Cannes highlights.
