Screening of the film Ish followed by a masterclass and Q&A with its producer and director, aimed at post-16 students and young people.
Watershed is hosting a screening of Ish on Tuesday 13 October, followed by a masterclass and Q&A with the people who made it. It's a one-off session, so it's not something that'll be running as part of a regular programme.
Ish is an acclaimed British coming-of-age drama, and the session is built around it. After the screening, the producer Dhiraj Mahey and the director Imran Peretta will be there in person for the masterclass and Q&A. They'll talk through how the film was made and how to collaborate with other creatives to get your own ideas off the ground. If you're interested in the practical side of filmmaking—how a project actually moves from an idea to a finished film—that's where the focus will be.
One thing to keep in mind is who this is for. It's aimed at post-16 students and young people aged 16 to 25, as well as teaching and youth staff, rather than a general audience. If you're in that bracket, or you work with people who are, it's a good chance to see a finished film and then hear the people behind it talk about the process. The masterclass part is where you can pick up on the collaborative side of things, too, which is often the bit that's hardest to figure out when you're starting out.

The whole thing runs from 09:45 to 12:30 on Tuesday morning at Watershed in Bristol, so it's a mid-morning session rather than an evening one. Tickets are £3.00 for teachers and students.
