A jazz night where Hesta Banks and The Adam Stokes Quintet pay homage to the legendary Blossom Dearie.
Hesta Banks joins The Adam Stokes Quintet at St George's Bristol on Wednesday 21 October, for a night dedicated to the jazz vocalist Blossom Dearie. The set is built around Banks' voice and the quintet's musicianship paying homage to Dearie's style and charm.
Banks is a Bristol-based singer-songwriter who draws on a wide range of influences: Cécile McLorin Salvant, Labi Siffre, Radiohead and Sondheim. Her debut album, Eyes Forward, came out in 2024 and played to a sell-out at The Louisiana with support from BBC Radio Wales and BBC Introducing. This night takes her in a different direction, stepping into the songbook of one of jazz's most distinctive voices.
St George's Bristol is one of the city's live-jazz spaces, booking everything from swing orchestras to modern jazz ensembles and celebrating the legacies of jazz greats. The show runs for about two hours and is suitable for ages 14 and over.
