Grace Petrie performs a show in two halves: an intimate solo set and a career-retrospective full-band performance drawing on her sixteen-year catalogue.
Grace Petrie plays St George's Bristol on Thursday 22 October, part of the venue's 'Just Announced' series. It's a show in two halves: an intimate solo set first, followed by a full-band performance that looks back across her sixteen-year catalogue. The second half draws from that whole span, so you'll hear things from the early days alongside more recent songs.
Petrie has spent those sixteen years as one of the UK's most urgent and passionate songwriters, making politically charged folk that's taken her from Cambridge and Vancouver to the Blue Mountains of Australia. Her live shows are known for razor-sharp lyricism and a stage presence that fans say creates an atmosphere of hope and solidarity. Her LGBTQ anthem 'Black Tie' has racked up 1.5 million streams, and she's toured extensively across the UK, Australia, New Zealand and Canada.
She's also worked with some big names along the way, providing tour support for Billy Bragg, Frank Turner and Emmy winner Hannah Gadsby. Her 2024 album Build Something Better, produced by Frank Turner, topped the UK's Official Folk Album Chart. Beyond the stage, she's appeared on ITVX, Channel 4, Sky Arts, BBC Radio 2's 'Folk Show' and 'The Guilty Feminist' podcast, with live BBC sessions presented by Tom Robinson and Jo Whiley.
