England men's under-21s play two matches against Portugal and France at Ashton Gate Stadium as part of their UEFA U21 EURO qualifying campaign.
England men's under-21s are coming back to Ashton Gate for a double-header this November, taking on Portugal and France in two matches in one week. The first is on Friday 13 November, followed by the second on Monday 16 November, both kicking off at 7.30pm.
Lee Carsley's side, known as the Young Lions, have already qualified for next summer's UEFA U21 EURO Finals in Albania and Serbia after topping their qualifying group. They're now aiming to defend their title for a third successive time, so these matches come at a point where they're looking ahead to the finals. Carsley described facing two of Europe's strongest nations on home soil as a fantastic opportunity for his players to test themselves before the tournament.
Ashton Gate is familiar ground for the under-21s. They were last in Bristol in October 2024, when a 7-0 win over Azerbaijan secured their place at the top of the group. The stadium has also hosted the senior men's team on two occasions: a 1-1 draw with Poland in March 2019 and a 1-1 draw with Romania in August 2007. Ross Wormald, the stadium's chief operating officer, said the double-header reinforces the ground's position as an internationally recognised sports and events venue and underlines the club's strong relationship with the Football Association.
