A live performance by the multi-award-winning electronic folk band Elephant Sessions at the Trinity Centre in Bristol.
Elephant Sessions play the Trinity Centre on Thursday 12 November, their only Bristol date this autumn. They're an electronic folk band from the Highlands of Scotland, and they've been at it for more than a decade, working their way from grassroots beginnings into one of the more prominent names in contemporary folk.
Their sound is a progressive blend of intricate tunes built on a bass and drum-heavy backline that mixes folk, funk and electronica. They've released four studio albums to date, and the live set draws from that catalogue. Over the years they've picked up a fair few awards from the MG Alba Scots Trad Music Awards: Up and Coming Act of the Year in 2014, Album of the Year in 2017, and Live Act of the Year in 2018. If you're coming from a folk background, that's the side of the record that'll ring truest; if you're more into the electronic side, the bass and drums are what hold the whole thing together.
