A live music project reimagining Massive Attack's catalogue through Cuban son, bolero and Latin jazz rhythms, directed by Michel Padron.
Buena Bristol Social Club plays The Trinity Centre on Saturday 12 December, from 7:30pm to 11pm. It's a live project created and directed by Michel Padron, a Cuban-British trumpeter, composer, arranger, producer and musical director. He's built it around the spirit of the Buena Vista Social Club, reimagined through Bristol's own cultural identity, and it brings together Cuban, Latin and Bristol-based musicians to celebrate the warmth, groove and emotional depth of classic Cuban music with a contemporary Bristol edge.
This particular night centres on the project's latest chapter, Otro Ataque Masivo, which takes Massive Attack's catalogue and runs it through Cuban son, bolero, descarga, Latin jazz and Afro-Cuban rhythms. It's billed as the project's final Bristol edition before it moves on to its next major live concept, so this is the last time this particular take on the Bristol sound will be out on a local stage. The project has played to sold-out crowds at The Jam Jar, Bristol Beacon and Frome Tree House, and this is its next stop.
