A day-long festival of solidarity with anarchist stalls, workshops, talks and panels on direct action, anti-capitalism, climate justice and more, with a kids space.
The Bristol Anarchist Bookfair returns to the Trinity Centre on Saturday 24 October, from 10:30am to 5pm. It's back at its original home for the first time in nine years, and it's being run as a day-long festival of solidarity bringing together organisers, writers, artists and locals. Dozens of stalls cover the anarchist spectrum, with thousands of books and zines on direct action, anti-capitalism, climate justice, feminism, decolonisation, workers' rights and anti-fascism. Alongside the stalls, there are free workshops, skillshares and trainings running throughout the day.
The organisers have put some thought into who can actually get through the door. The first hour is dedicated to creating a welcoming space for people with sensory, mobility and covid concerns, so if you usually find crowds a bit much, that's your best window. A kids space runs all day, and the whole thing is described as warm and family-friendly. There's also a solidarity zone for Black and Brown Bristolians, run by Bristol Community Action.

If you're coming for the books, you'll find a huge range of titles and zines on the topics mentioned — direct action, anti-capitalism, climate justice, feminism, decolonisation, workers' rights and anti-fascism — and the workshops and skillshares run alongside them. It's a day for browsing, chatting and picking up things you might not find anywhere else in the city. When the fair wraps up at 5pm, there's an afterparty at the Plough Easton to keep things going into the evening. The bookfair itself runs from 10:30am to 5pm at the Trinity Centre.
