An evening of theatre and jungle and drum & bass culture celebrating 20 years of Rupture, with live scoring by Double O, followed by a rave.
Rupture is celebrating twenty years at The Trinity Centre on Saturday 14 November, and they're doing it by splitting the night between a play and a rave. The whole thing runs from 21:30 through to 05:00, so it's a proper late one that starts with theatre and ends on the dancefloor.
The first part is Ferry to the Underworld, a live theatre piece that sits somewhere between a stage show and rave culture, working through themes of motherhood and mythology. It's scored live by Double O, who'll be providing the music as the performance unfolds. That runs from 22:00 to 23:00, and once it's finished, the rave takes over and Rupture carries the night into the early hours.
For those who know the name, Rupture is the brand that helped shape nu-skool drum & bass and brought jungle and drum & bass culture to the forefront, with a particular focus on the contribution of Black culture to those scenes. The rave part of the night features Sully and Loxy, two names that'll be familiar if you've spent any time in that world, and they'll be taking things from 23:00 right through to 05:00.
