Jamie T is coming back to Bristol. On Sunday 18 October he plays Electric Bristol on Nelson Street, in the city centre, as part of a run of intimate solo shows built around his new album. The evening is presented by Rough Trade and runs from 18:00 to 22:00. Each set lasts around 45 minutes, so this is a stripped-back way to see him rather than a full band show.

The album is Ghosts (100 Days of Morning), which came out on 9 October on Polydor. It is his sixth studio album and has eleven tracks. Jamie produced it in part himself, alongside James Dring, who has worked with Loyle Carner and Blur, and Hugo White, from The Maccabees. The single 3310 is on it, along with Cocktail, a track with Damon Albarn, and Tallahassee, which closes the record. The songs deal with growing up, love, loss and the fondness for the indie nights of the past, with a sense of letting go running through the whole thing.
For anyone who has followed him since the start, the story is familiar. Born in Wimbledon in 1986, he mixes ska-punk with rap and first made his name in the late 2000s. His debut, Panic Prevention, came out in 2007 and went platinum in the UK, and Kings & Queens followed in 2009. After a long gap, The Theory of Whatever arrived in 2022 and became his first number one album in the UK.
Electric Bristol has a capacity of 1,800 and spreads over several floors. There is a passenger lift at the back of the venue, but it has to be arranged with the venue in advance, and you can call 0117 9450325 or email info@electricbristol.com to do that. Each ticket holder can get one free carer pass. The show is 14+, and under-16s must be accompanied by an adult. Tickets are available through DICE, and according to the listing they start from £31. General admission tickets do not include a copy of the album.
If you already know his records, this is a chance to hear the new material in a smaller setting than the big tours usually offer. If you are new to him, it is a short evening with a clear starting point, and the new album is a good way in.
