Hidden Herd music discovery night featuring Winter Gardens, Opal Mag, Lucy Darke and Tears At The Table at The Hope & Ruin.
Winter Gardens headline The Hope & Ruin on Wednesday 7 October, part of a four-band bill that includes Opal Mag, Lucy Darke and Tears At The Table. The night is presented by Hidden Herd, Brighton's new music discovery night, which spotlights emerging artists, ones-to-watch and hidden gems. The venue is the first-floor music room at 10-12 Queens Road, a cult spot where both Dua Lipa and Adele played on the same stage a decade ago.
Winter Gardens blend shimmering shoegaze and post-punk, and they've shared stages with Echo & the Bunnymen, Gary Numan and Modern English. Their EP Uncomfortable/Unlovable drew praise from BBC Radio 1, BBC Music Introducing, Radio X, KEXP and Louder Than War, and they played Brighton's Great Escape at Concorde 2 more recently. Opal Mag draws on Mazzy Star and The Breeders; her debut EP Goodbye Lavender came out via Venn Records, with the singles 'Wasting', 'World End' and 'Kiss Me'.
Brighton singer-songwriter Lucy Darke unveiled her 2025 EP Earthly Delights, and London five-piece Tears At The Table, championed by DIY Magazine, fuse fuzz-drenched guitars with reverb-soaked vocals, drawing on The Cranberries, Blondie and Fontaines D.C. Between them, that's a fair bit of ground to cover in one night: shoegaze, post-punk, slowcore-leaning indie, singer-songwriter and fuzz-rock.

The night runs from 19:30 to 23:00, and it's 18+. Tickets are £11.00.
