A night of indie rock and folk music featuring Winnipeg, MN, Pascoe and Hitman Sheela at The Hope & Ruin.
Winnipeg, MN play The Hope & Ruin on Sunday 30 August, with Pascoe and Hitman Sheela on the bill. The night is presented by H&R, the grassroots music venue and pub that supports Brighton's independent live scene.
Winnipeg, MN are a six-piece band originally formed in Brighton and now based in South London, playing dynamic, heartfelt folk-inflected indie rock. The line-up takes in AJ on bass, Catherine on violin, Jamie on guitar and vocals, Nathan on guitar, harmonium and vocals, Sam on clarinet and harmonium, and Will on drums. With violin, clarinet and harmonium alongside the guitars, they bring a wider range of textures to the stage than your standard indie band, and the folk influence comes through in the arrangements.
They're joined by Pascoe and Hitman Sheela, so there are three acts on the bill. The Hope & Ruin is a pub as well as a venue, and it serves plant-based bar products and fast food from a Beelzebab caravan on site. Beyond the music, it also hosts DJs, art happenings and quizzes, so it's a spot that does more than just gigs.
