A guided foraging walk through Stanmer Park followed by a five-course wild plant-based tasting menu experience.
If you have ever walked through Stanmer Park and wondered which of the plants lining the paths might actually be edible, there is an event coming up on June 14, 2026, that digs into exactly that. It is called Wild Brighton: A Foraged Tasting Menu, and it is part of the City Uncovered: Brighton series. The afternoon runs from 14:00 to 19:00, taking place at the Urban Forage site, specifically at The Wee House and the Craft Museum within the park.

The experience is split into two distinct parts. First, there is a guided foraging walk through the local woodlands and meadows. The idea here is to learn how to identify wild herbs, seasonal mushrooms, and edible plants that grow right in our backyard. Christian Amys, the founder of Urban Forage and a former MasterChef contestant, will be leading the session, sharing his approach to sustainable harvesting. It is a practical way to get a better sense of what the local landscape actually produces throughout the seasons.
Once the walk wraps up, the focus shifts to the kitchen. The second half of the event is a five-course plant-based tasting menu. The dishes are prepared using the wild ingredients gathered from the area, which gives you a chance to see how these foraged finds translate into a structured meal. It is priced at £60.00 per person. Since this is an outdoor activity involving walking across uneven terrain, it is worth wearing comfortable clothes and sturdy shoes. If you have any specific dietary requirements, you will need to let the organisers know when you book your spot.
