A comedy theatre show about British policing from the late 1970s, performed at The Lantern Theatre.
Whisky Tango Foxtrot! comes to The Lantern Theatre on Thursday 19 November, a comedy theatre show about British policing from the late 1970s onwards. It's a one-man show performed by Jack Bryan, and the whole thing is told through his eyes.
Bryan plays a young father, shop steward and steel worker who's made redundant just before Christmas and subsequently joins the force. From there, he spends the next 30 years inside the police, witnessing some of the most important chapters of late 20th-century British social history first-hand. He takes you through the race riots of the early 1980s, the miners' strike of 1984-85 and the decimation of British industry under Thatcher and globalisation. He describes the world inside the police as a kind of 'psychotic Narnia', a parallel world governed by its own rules.
The show is described as grittily honest, enlightening and hilariously funny. It runs for 60 minutes and is recommended for ages 16 and over, with a content warning for depictions or references to violence.
