Up Your Vision!

If you are looking for something a bit different to do on the 16th of May, there is an event happening at Klub Kaput at Caravanserai called Up Your Vision!. It is positioned as an alternative to Eurovision, focusing on live music and comedy while acting as a non-profit fundraiser. The money raised is going towards PalMusic, specifically for the ESNCM conservatory in Gaza, and the charity All Our Relations. It is a collaborative effort involving a coalition of local groups, including Make Music Matter, Brighton & Hove Jews Against the Occupation, the Brighton & Hove Palestinian Solidarity Campaign, Brighton & Hove Queers for Palestine, and the Brighton Liberation Choir.

The doors open at 17:30, and the show kicks off at 18:00, with a total duration of around 300 minutes. The lineup is quite varied, featuring comedian Jen Brister alongside musical acts like Bashar Murad, Oceana, The Liberation Choir, waymore, The Unkempt Skiffle Band, Go For It Tribe, Merlin Shepherd, and Nil Points. Beyond the stage, there is a glam station set up with costumes and prizes, and the night wraps up with a secret after-party featuring DJs from Queer House Party.

Tickets are priced at £20 for standard entry, £10 for concessions, and £40 for a family ticket. It is an all-ages event, and children under two can get in for free if they sit on a lap. However, it is worth noting that the content includes strong language, audience interaction, and references to mental health and violence. They will also be using smoke effects, strobe lighting, and there will be loud noise, so keep that in mind if you are planning to bring younger ones or if you are sensitive to those environments.
