Toploader

Toploader are playing Quarters in Brighton on Sunday 18 October. It's a headline show, and they're bringing the full band.

If the name rings a bell but you can't quite place it, the biggest one is 'Dancing in the Moonlight'. It was a global hit in 2000, and after a 2013 re-release, it's gone on to top 10 million hits on YouTube. That's the song that usually sticks, but there's a fair bit more to them than that one. They're a British band that formed in 1997, and their debut album, Onka's Big Moka, sold over a million copies and earned them four Brit Award nominations. Their second, Magic Hotel, reached number three in the UK Albums Chart.

They've spent a lot of time on the road and on the support bill, too. They've backed Paul Weller, Robbie Williams, Noel Gallagher, Tom Jones, Simple Minds and Bon Jovi, and they were the last British band to play the original Wembley Stadium. They've also played festivals like Glastonbury, V-Festival, T In The Park and Chris Evans's CarFest. It's a long run of work that stretches back nearly thirty years, and they've sold over two million albums along the way.

There's new material coming, too. Frontman Joe Washbourn said the band is excited to play brand new songs from an upcoming EP scheduled for release in early 2026, so you'll hear things they've written recently alongside the older songs. That's the set: the early records, the big hits, and the new stuff they're touring. Toploader at Quarters, Sunday 18 October.
