Stand-up comedy show by Tom Ward exploring the clash between modern culture and his nostalgic youth.
Tom Ward brings his show Post-millennium Tension to The Forge Comedy Club on Thursday 8 October, part of the Forge Comedy Club Tour presented by Funny That Comedy. It's a full evening of stand-up, running an hour and a half with one interval, and it's recommended for ages 16 and over.
Ward's act is built around a very specific kind of nostalgia for the years 1988 to 1995. He describes himself as a 'burner phone using, Discman carrying, 1988-1995 obsessed freak', and he works in a bittersweet style that pits the head-fuck of modern popular culture against that of his youth. If you spent those years with a Discman in your hand, you'll recognise the ground he's covering.
He's a father to a two-year-old son and has appeared on Live at the Apollo, Roast Battle and Qi. The reviews have been strong: Time Out noted his 'fine jokes and star presence', and Chortle called it 'Seinfeld-level observational comedy'.
