Tom Stade: Rules

Tom Stade is back in Brighton on Wednesday 21 April 2027, playing The Forge Comedy Club at Ironworks Studios on Cheapside. He's touring a brand-new show called Rules, which he's taking around as part of the Forge Comedy Club Tour, presented by Funny That Comedy. It's a full-length set — one hour and 45 minutes with an interval — so it's a proper night out rather than a short slot.

Stade is a Canadian stand-up who's been working the live circuit for decades, and Rules is fresh from the Edinburgh festival. The material takes aim at the absurdities of modern times, delivered with the same unfiltered wit and stage presence he's built his reputation on. If you've seen him before, you'll know the swagger; if you haven't, this is a good place to start.

He's a familiar face on the comedy circuit, with work on Have a Word Pod, Channel 4's Comedy Gala, Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow, The John Bishop Show, and two appearances on Live at the Apollo. The critics have had their say over the years: the Edinburgh Evening News called him 'unmissable', Chortle put him in the 'stand-up elite', the Guardian described him as a 'debauched truth teller', and The List called him a 'master of comedy'.

The Forge Comedy Club itself has a bit of a reputation in the city — Romesh Ranganathan once called it 'probably the best Comedy Club in Brighton, if not the UK'. It's located at Ironworks Studios, 30 Cheapside, BN1 4GD. The show runs from 7:30pm to 9:15pm, with doors opening at 6:30pm, and it's for ages 16 and over.
