Tom Lawrinson presents his new magic and comedy show 'Speak of the Devil' at Komedia Basement, billed as his biggest tour yet.
Tom Lawrinson brings his new magic show, Speak of the Devil, to Komedia Basement on Sunday 11 April 2027. It's billed as his biggest tour yet, and this is the Brighton date. Rolling Stone described him as 'truly unique... joyfully daft', which gives you a fair idea of the energy he brings to the stage.
Lawrinson frames the show around two questions: 'is magic real?' and, if so, 'has he been shagged?'. From there, it takes you through his inner thoughts on fairy tales, gentlemen's clubs and the late-90s kids' TV show 50-50. It's as much a comedy set as it is a magic show, with the tricks serving as a springboard for the jokes rather than the other way around. The Scotsman noted that he's turned playful menace into an art form, and critics have praised the pace and quality of the writing.
It's a solo show, so Lawrinson is the only name on the bill. If you've seen him before, this is new material, and if you haven't, it's a good place to start. The show is for ages 16 and over, and seating is unreserved, so if you want a particular spot, you'll want to get there a bit early.
