Reece Shearsmith brings Things I Took from the Dark to the Theatre Royal on Monday 5 October, starting at 19:30. Most of us know him from The League of Gentlemen, Psychoville and Inside No. 9, and this show draws on the morbid and macabre artefacts he's collected over the decades. He's talking about the screaming skull of Glamis Castle, the Highgate vampire, sea devils, witch hunters and a talking mongoose called Gef.
The evening works from his illustrated memoir, Things I Took from the Dark: The Museum of Me, and moves between storytelling and performance. It's guided by a personal encounter on a Hull council estate, and later he sits down with a special guest host while the audience puts their questions directly to the curator himself. So it's part storytelling, part conversation, and part Q&A.
