The sessions are designed to be straightforward: there are no workshops, no critiques, and no pressure. The organisers have stripped away the usual structure of writing groups, meaning there is no requirement to share work or participate in exercises. It’s just time and space to work. Whether you are working on a novel, poetry, essays, scripts, or academic assignments, the environment is set up to accommodate any kind of writing project. You just need to bring your laptop or notebook and settle in. The space is intended to be calm, allowing you to focus on your own project without the distractions that often come with working from home or a busy cafe.
The initiative is running as a summer series, spanning from June through to September 2026. The organisers have noted that there is a possibility of extending the sessions into the autumn if there is enough interest from the local writing community. It’s open to anyone who needs a dedicated space to focus, from fiction writers and poets to students and screenwriters.
The sessions take place every Wednesday from 11:00 to 13:00. The confirmed schedule for the summer series includes 17 June, 24 June, 1 July, 8 July, 15 July, 22 July, 29 July, 5 August, 12 August, 19 August, 26 August, and 2 September. Each session costs £8.00, which includes unlimited access to self-service tea and coffee throughout the two hours. You can find the venue at 30 Cheapside, Brighton, BN1 4GD. It’s a straightforward setup for anyone looking to carve out a bit of time for their writing projects over the coming months.
