A post-punk and European art rock concert by The Sick Man Of Europe, drawing on 1980s influences with a modern electronic edge.
The Sick Man Of Europe play The Hope & Ruin on Wednesday 25 November, part of a run of minimal post-punk electronic shows across the UK and Europe. They're touring the single 'Negative Stimuli', which comes from their new album The Intermittent Signal, out 25 September on The Leaf Label.
The band emerged from London's underground scene with a monochrome outlook: economical playing, delivered with precision and conviction, propelled forward by machines and seeking solace in repetition. They describe their sound as drawing on the post-punk and European art rock pioneers of the late 1970s and early 1980s, re-tooled for the present. It's that early-80s European art rock influence that gives the name its lean, austere feel, and the set follows suit—stripped-back, electronic, and built on those same repetitive lines.

'Negative Stimuli' is the lead single from The Intermittent Signal, the album that's due out on The Leaf Label on 25 September. The tour is built around that release, so you'll hear the new material alongside the band's established sound.
