New-material comedy night at The Secret Comedy Club in Brighton, held at the Artista venue.
The Secret Comedy Club is running its Wednesday nights at Artista in Brighton, with the mid-week slot starting from Wednesday 15 July 2026. It's a new-material night, which means the comics are there to work through fresh bits rather than lean on their polished sets. The club describes itself as Brighton's only base-run comedy club operating five nights a week, and it was voted best venue at the Brighton Fringe.
Wednesdays follow a set format: a new line-up every week, with a headliner and an MC to hold the night together. Because it's a new-material night, the room is a bit of a workshop for the comics, and it's frequented by both professionals and comedy fans. The venue is Artista, an intimate space with a strict no-heckling policy, so it's the kind of night where you can just sit back and listen without the room getting out of hand.
Over the years, the club has drawn some big names through its doors, many of whom have appeared on Live at the Apollo. The list includes Dane Baptiste, Sean Walsh, Paul McCaffrey, Zoe Lyons, Henning Wehn, Fiona Allen, Tim Renkow, Marlon Davis, Ian Stone, Esther Manito, Simon Evans, Loiso Gola, Jen Brister, Phil Nichol, Steve Hughes, Craig Campbell, Al Lubel and Adam Bloom. It's built a reputation as a key spot for new material on the south coast, and that's exactly what the Wednesday nights are about.
