Stand-up comedy night with established and emerging acts trying out new material at artista, with a no-heckling policy.
The Secret Comedy Club is back at Artista on Wednesday 2 December, part of their regular mid-week run of comedy nights. The bill for the evening is Michael Fabbri, Tadiwa Mahlunge and Stephen Carlin, and like most of these nights, the line-up is subject to change, so keep that in mind if you're going for a particular name.
The format is what makes these nights work: it's a room where established comedians and emerging acts both come to try out new material. That means you'll hear bits of a set that's still being worked on, rather than a polished hour, and you're seeing the process as much as the finished product. It's a good spot if you prefer that side of stand-up — the rougher, more immediate end of things.
One thing to be aware of is the strict no-heckling policy. The club keeps it that way to keep the evening friendly and fun, so it's a night for listening rather than shouting back. It's for ages 16 and over, and they ask you to arrive 15 to 30 minutes before the show starts, as there are no refunds for late arrivals.
