An award-winning intimate stand-up comedy night in Brighton featuring headliner Esther Manito and a strict no-heckling policy in a 20-capacity venue.
The Artista Cafe & Gallery, tucked away at 42 Brighton Square in The Lanes, continues its Saturday tradition with The Secret Comedy Club. This venue is notably small, with a capacity limited to just 20 people, which creates a very different dynamic compared to the larger comedy clubs in town. It has previously picked up the Audience Choice Award for Best Fringe Venue, partly due to its reputation for being a friendlier alternative to the bigger spots. A key part of that is their strict no-heckling policy, which they maintain to ensure the atmosphere stays focused on the performance rather than interruptions from the crowd.

For the upcoming show on Saturday, 28th February, the bill includes Esther Manito as the headliner, with Martin Warren acting as the MC for the evening. The line-up is rounded out by Alex Mitchell and Will Hitt. If you are planning to head down, the doors open at 19:00, followed by a happy hour that runs until 19:30. The comedy itself starts at 20:00 and is expected to finish around 22:30. It is worth being punctual, as the club has a firm rule about not providing refunds for anyone arriving after the 20:00 start time.
Regarding the logistics, tickets are priced at £25 if purchased at the door on the night. However, booking online beforehand brings the cost down to between £11 and £22. Given the tiny size of the room, most people tend to secure their spots in advance. The event is open to those aged 16 and over, though the general vibe of the club is very much aimed at an adult audience. It offers a consistent option for those who live locally and want to see stand-up in a setting that prioritises the quality of the room's atmosphere over sheer scale.
