The Secret Comedy Club Saturdays

The Secret Comedy Club is running its Saturday night showcase at Artista on 5 September, and it's one of several dates they've got lined up over the next few weeks. The Saturday night is their flagship, with a new headliner and a new MC every week, so the bill changes each time. It's a proper stand-up night, and the room has hosted names like Dane Baptiste, Sean Walsh, Paul McCaffrey, Zoe Lyons, Henning Wehn and Craig Campbell, many of them regulars on Live at the Apollo.

If you haven't come across them before, the club describes itself as Brighton's only grassroots comedy club running stand-up five nights a week at Artista. They pitch it as the city's friendliest and most intimate room, with a strict no-heckling policy — a safer, friendlier alternative to the larger venues. It's picked up some recognition too, voted Best Brighton Fringe Venue and winning the Audience Choice Award for Best Fringe Venue.

Saturday 5 September is just the start of a run: they're on every Saturday through the month, on the 12th, 19th and 26th, and then again on 3, 10 and 17 October. The September shows run from 19:00 to 22:30, and the October ones from 20:00 to 22:30.
