The Reinettes, a non-profit creative community of performers, return live with a cabaret show described as punk, unique and experimental, with proceeds supporting families in crisis in Gaza.
The Reinettes return to Komedia on Thursday 29 October, their second time back at the venue. It's billed as an evening of community, entertainment and fundraising, and the line-up is a bit of a mix: opening music from Jess Tuthill and Acid Claw, followed by a cabaret featuring six Brighton Reinettes, one Reading Reinette and three clowns from Reading Clown School.
For those who haven't come across them, The Reinettes are a non-profit creative community of performers, a queer, feminist and anti-racist collective based in Brighton and Reading. They describe their own work as punk, unique and experimental, and the mix of music and cabaret on the bill fits that description. The performers come from both cities, with the Reading connection bringing in the clowns from Reading Clown School to join the Brighton contingent.
There's a clear purpose behind the night, too. All proceeds from ticket sales go to 'All Our Relations', a fundraiser set up by Jen Brister and Georgia Takacs that channels money to families in crisis in Gaza, including evacuation funds and assistance with housing, education and healthcare. So, the ticket price goes entirely to that.
