The talk focuses on the psychological and neurological processes involved in trauma and emotional dysregulation. Attendees can expect an exploration of why traumatic experiences often leave lasting effects and how the brain remains in a survival mode. The session covers methods to expand the 'window of tolerance', helping individuals move from a state of reactivity to one of calm. It also touches on science-backed techniques for managing triggers and intense emotional responses. This event is open to mental health professionals, those with lived experience of trauma, and anyone interested in the subject. Please note that this is an 18+ event, ensuring the environment is suited for the depth of the topics discussed.
The session is scheduled to run from 19:00 to 21:30, lasting two and a half hours. Tickets are currently priced at £16.00 for a standard entry, though it is worth noting that these prices can fluctuate daily. The discussion aligns with the principles of 'Trauma-Informed Care', which frames reactions to trauma as normal responses to abnormal circumstances. Topics such as hypervigilance, dissociation, and flashbacks are addressed through established frameworks like CBT, EMDR, and the ARC model—which covers attachment, regulation, and competency. It provides a space to look at how these clinical approaches are applied to support healing and emotional regulation, offering a structured look at the mechanisms behind these complex psychological states.
